MOTHERLORE THREADS
call for submissions
Because Motherlore Magazine is a slow, mostly analogue, project, I’ve been thinking about starting something a little more mycelial, something more connected, accessible and supportive for writers—especially unpublished ones. As I venture further into the world of submissions for my own poetry, creating more spaces to exhibit real-time creative work on mothering, nature and care is something I’ve been so grateful to be part of, and I love to see more and more opportunities spreading online and offline.
Following on from the hands-on MAKE•SHIFT project, which you can buy here, I’m excited to share something exclusively digital: Motherlore Threads. A more regular series of calls for submissions for work that explores ideas of ‘mother’ and ‘nature’, to be published digitally, here on Substack. As always, interpret the words ‘mother’ and ‘nature’ in your own way — your connection to the word ‘mother’ in particular is personal, and you do not need to be a mother to submit.
The tentative plan is for Motherlore Threads to be sent out monthly, though this may be too ambitious among all the other directions I’m being pulled in!
